austin: day two, PM. the #txsc @swap party!
Our second night in Austin marked the beginning of the Texas Style Council events! First up was the solo happy hour, which Maria and I went to even though we were a duo, at Taverna. We ordered some really garlicky, yet half-priced bruschetta and a few drinks. We only got to chat with a few other ladies there, but that was were I got to meet the lovely Chelle of Spangled Paraphernalia! After that we headed over to the TxSC headquarters and acted as the Welcome Wagon for Amy, Elise, and Elizabeth from Blowfish Shoes/Delightfully Tacky! It was so nice to finally meet these ladies, and we ended up spending a lot of time together over the course of the conference.
The Swap party was a ton of fun, as usual! Melissa and Punky are such cool broads. Every time I see them, I love them more. They were handing out Swap totes and temporary tattoos (did anyone else's tattoo stay on til they got home or was that just me?)! I swapped two vintage blouses for a vintage skirt from Erica and a vintage dress from Amy! Cannot. Wait. To. Wear. Them. Photos coming soon, I swear! We also got to take a brand new item courtesy of Lulu*s! I love those girls, too! They are so friendly and their hard work really shines through at these events.
vintage blouse: goodwill | tank: express | skirt: gift from my sister
shoes: jeffrey campbell | watch: target | ring: inpink
After the party, Maria, Amy, Elise, Elizabeth, and I went to a pub on 6th Street for drinks, food, and incredible live music. I ordered a heaping plate of fried pickles and I'm devastated to say that they were not good. They were so salty, I barely ate any. I hate wasting food like that! After that, we went to Chinatown for a karaoke party, at which I sang karaoke for the first time! Unfortunately, I was a bit drunk so poor Bon Jovi sounded horrible, but what can you do? Thanks to Adam for putting "Jersey Girls" on the karaoke list, Elizabeth for helping us out when our voices gave out by the end of the song, and Amy for sitting front row, cheering us on, and taking pictures. Haha!

Your pics turned out SO much better than mine! I should have used my flash more. Taverna was such a whirlwind, everything was so overwhelming. Plus, it was difficult to meet people, cram food down my throat, be graceful, and juggle my glass of wine in so short a time!
ReplyDeletedo not fret, i would estimate that most karaoke forays involving bon jovi are drunken.......
ReplyDeletesounds like it was a blast, loved your photos!
Thanks! I feel like mine came out crummy too, but I appreciate it nonetheless! :)
