first day in austin (pre-txsc).
Maria and I flew in to Austin a day early for the Texas Style Council, and I'm so glad we did. With the crazy weather and flight delays, I can't imagine how the women who flew down on Friday were fresh-faced and ready for the Swap Party. Real pros, they are. Anyway, we flew out of Newark really early in the morning. Since we both have slight airplane anxiety (I blame mine on "Lost"), we decided to order some drinks on the plane. Guess what--the flight attendant didn't charge us for them! We were so excited. It's the little things, really. We also got a tapas spread, and I watched "My Week with Marilyn." After we got to our hotel, we unpacked and napped for a bit. We decided that we should explore part of the city before the conference started, so we went to the 6th Street area for dinner at Iron Cactus. Their blood orange margarita and nachos were killer. I filled up on chips too quickly and ended up not even touching my quesadilla. So sad. More on TxSC to come!
