Saturday at the Shore.

On Saturday, Frank and I drove down the shore for a mini-road-trip-day. We started off in Long Branch at an area called Pier Village. There's a bunch of shops and restaurants, but nothing struck our fancy that day. We sat on some rocks and soaked up the sun and sea air. I couldn't stop singing/humming/quoting "Old Cape Cod" by Patti Page, though I had to change the lyrics slightly. Once we got cold, we headed back north, stopping at a few other shore towns. Some of them are still in great disarray from Sandy, which is really sad. This great restaurant in Union Beach, Jakeabob's, which Frank and I visited a while back, is completely demolished. Keansburg, a tiny shore town with an amusement park I'd frequent as a child is up and running, though, and it doesn't look like too much was ruined! After that, we went to a BBQ joint in my hood for some apps, since it was right in between lunch and dinner. We got chili, jalapeno poppers, and buffalo chicken strips. SO good. P.S.
