Spring Style Genres.

I like winter, I don't mind being cold, and I love snow...but I (like many other Northeasterners) am starting to get a little tired of it. Fun fact: we had more snow yesterday! Somehow relatedly, I just finished watching "American Horror Story: Coven" which has me dreaming of revisiting (or moving to?) warm New Orleans and starting to dress more and more like one of the Coven every day. In an effort to stave off the chill, I have been thinking about all these things and in which direction I want my personal style to go in the spring. I started browsing around rue21 for some inspiration and narrowed it down to three (broad) genres.

Spring Style Genres.

• 90s grunge
This is where the "AHS: Coven" influence is strongest. These sunflower knit palazzo pants are so '90s grunge, I can't even handle it. Palazzo pants are the best pants because they are pretty much loungewear that is socially acceptable to wear in public. Just add a tank and a pair of black boots and you're done. Also: printed leggings, like the Grayscale Rose Leggings or Mini Rose Leggings, would look great under a black midi dress or hi-lo skirt. Gotta get a black floppy hat like Zoe too.

• nouveau nautical
I love nautical fashion, but it's a terribly obvious choice for spring/summer clothing. This spring, I'm going for a nouveau nautical style--not super-blatant with the anchors and horizontal stripes. These high waisted jeans are very cute and make me feel like they should be worn on a boat, with these shoes (Suede Scalloped Flats) and a v-neck. Casual and not too costume-y.

• general kitsch
There is quite a large selection of graphic tees for gals carried by Rue21. A few of them fit my other two themes (90s: Happier Daisy Tank OR nouveau nautical: Neon Bubble Anchor Tee OR both: Floral Anchor Striped Tank), but for the most part there's a general kitschiness about all of the graphic tees. Some are a little tongue-in-cheek, some are a little childish, all are awesome. (If you're a dude or shopping for a dude, you should check out the graphic tees for guys carried by Rue21, too!)

You can find all this and more (bathing suits! sunglasses! jewelry!) at rue21.com
